2020 Fall Season Recap

Post date: Nov 10, 2020 11:23:5 PM

2020 is in the books following some fairly wild racing on Saturday 11/7 at Fall #5.

Just 3 boats, so we decided to do the around-the-island thing. The race started out well enough with an unpowered launch from dock and good wind heading north. Just as we started up the east channel (about even with the south end of the island) the hail hit; that and a few minutes long gust of about 25kts certainly made things interesting. After that excitement, it was mostly dry with strong winds up to the bridge before things died a bit. We decided we didn't have enough time/light to get all the way around around the island, so headed back south for a nice long downwind run. An added bonus these last few races was the scenery - the leaves both at Coulon and all the way along the east shore have been spectacular this year.

Turnout was very (very) light all season - here's hoping everyone feels a bit more comfortable coming out to sail in the spring. You can find Spring, Fall, and Full Season results on the Race Scoring and Reports page. We've got a fleet meeting this Thursday, 11/12, @7pm (if you didn't get an email with Zoom information, please contact Kris). Hope to see you (virtually) there!

Just a little hail to make sailing interesting ...
