Hey everyone, an update from Jack about the June 2nd race being held in Everett, that we're going to try to piggy back an overnighter onto! Some nice advance notice so everyone can clear their schedules!

I reserved four slips for our club at the Langely Marina for June 2-3. Let me know if you are interested. A month prior to the event I will confirm the reservation with the Marina. So please tuck this in thought and let me know when it gets closer to the time to confirm. Jack |

We finalized the Race schedule for 2012 last night, and we should be starting on March 3rd or March 10th as an alternate with the Rigging and Racing clinic.

We have some things of note this year... there are A LOT of potential Road Warrior Races. There are just too many good races going on this year for us to limit it to 3-4 races. We did add the provision that there must be at least 3 Fleet 1 Boats in attendance for that Race to count towards points. So if there is a RW race you absolutely must go, now is the time to start campaigning your fellow Fleet 1 Skippers to sign up for it.
Jack Caldwell and Jeff Dere, with Gene Adams are also coming up with a pretty aggressive Cruising schedule this year, something that Fleet 1 has always been lacking a little bit of. Jack suggested we piggy back a few of our races and turn them into overnighter's.
We proposed Everett as a new location for Fleet 1 to race at this year, and a few of us love the Langley Small boat harbor, so we are potentially piggy backing that into an overnighter from Spring #5. It is dependant on Moorage as they mean it when they call it a "small boat harbor".
The June 16th Summer Vashon, as well as the August 18th Brownsville race will likely be overnighters as well. Jack will be coming up with more details for the Summer Vashon one, but the Brownsville race has been an overnighter for us for the past 3 years and details are similar. I looked up the Tide charts, and conditions look favorable for us getting through Agate pass this weekend in a timely fashion.

Hey everyone, if you plan to be a member of Fleet 1 again this year, and really, why wouldn't you want to? Please make sure to fill out the following form for us as it helps us to keep track of member's, member's who've paid, and boats to show case on the website. It also helps us to contact you in case we don't hear from you or you need help with something. We don't do anything with your personal information other than for Fleet 1 specific uses. Even then, we hardly use it.

Update: Due to snowpocalypse 2012, we're postponing the Fleet Meeting till the 26th of next week. Same Juan channel, same Juan time.
Already sent email but anyone is welcome to come and learn about Fleet 1. Thursday the 19th, 630 pm at the Chelan Cafe in West Seattle. We have a lot to go over such as appointments of Webmaster, Race Chairmain, Cruise Organizer, as well as the Schedule for 2012, and a Rigging/Racing clinic to be held in February, tenatively the 25th.

That Fleet 1's event Calendar is just a simple Google Calender and as such you should be able to sync it up to your Computer's Calendar, or even your phone?

Also, did you know that San Juan 21's are on Facebook? Next time you log in, do a search for San Juan 21, and you can connect with other Sj21 sailor's and interested friends in places other than the national class forums.

Hey everyone, just a heads up that we decided to cancel Saturday's racing. With temperatures predicted to be in the 30's, and "winds" ranging from 0-3knts it just didn't sound very exciting to anyone at the meeting tonight.
Also, if you haven't heard yet, the Christmas Party is going to be held at Jim Miller's new abode just north of Green lake in seattle. It will be held on December 4th at 2pm. Jim should be getting in contact with you regarding dishes of food to bring.

Well, we have a pretty active fleet in this Free online game this year. If you're interested in playing, check out our forum thread here. We have Wooglin, Habagat, 1Mizu, and Lunacy currently playing, that's ChrisP, Fausto, Christian and Scott in order so add those boats if you make it in.

I know a few of us in Fleet 1 have used the Swinomish channel before, so maybe this is of interest to you. It's supposed to be silted in by 2015 unless it's dredged out, and currently, there's no money to do that.

Check out the Race Reports forum when you have time. Our friends on the Eastern side of the state have posted some info about one of their recent Regatta's, and Jim Altice has posted pics from both Norm Blanchard and Fall #3 in West Seattle.

Can you believe it? Only 5 days till the first race of the fall season!
For those that don't know, this is also an overnighter race as usually we get a few boats that cruise over Friday night, leaving from Shilshole, stay over Friday and Saturday nights for some camping, cooking, and relaxing under the dark and starry Brownsville Sky.
Brownsville marine is very well sheltered so your boat will be very calm as you sleep. It's nice and quiet with many friendly people as well. If you haven't camped out on your boat or done any races with Fleet 1, this event would be a great opportunity to get your feet wet!

Interesting article in threesheetsnw.com linked to by the Seattle Times regarding scholarships at Sail Sand Point. Know any kids or adults that want to learn how to sail? It looks like SSP has a lot of open scholarship positions open, that don't require much more than a brief application.

April minutes have finally been posted, sorry for the delay everyone. Continued thanks to Jim Altice for taking such detailed and accurate minutes.
Also, TYC's Summer Vashon is coming up fast! It's on Saturday the 18th and right now we have Charmed Juan, BoB, Jessie, and Mizu slated to show up. Jim Altice is planning on crewing on Mizu but if we get any other Working Sails boats committed i'm sure he'll bring Parveen out for some good racing.
TYC will be doing a "race day" determined Short course and we just need to cruise by the committee boat to get the course for the day as the Skipper's Meeting is early, and we're all going to have to drive a ways for this race.
I've posted a link to the NOR and Entry Form in the files section. Mizu will be registered sometime next week. It's 30$ in Advance, or 40$ for late entries.
It's looking like the weather should clear up nicely, so hopefully we can get a few more boats committed. If not the 4 of us will be out on puget sound having a blast! |

Sounds like a very cool program. You can rent a 30" model sailboat and do some pond sailing at the new pool next to the Center for Wooden Boats.

Stephen got the final Spring Series standings updated. Congratulations go to Mike Dukes for taking the spring series in Working Sails. He was followed closely by Paul Von Stubbe, Jim Altice, and Jack Caldwell. In the Spinnaker class we have Chris Popich taking the spring series, followed by Bill Jenks, Stephen Jensen and Christian Lamp.
Congrats to Mike and Chris...
The Fields have been getting tighter and tighter though, so now's the time to get some racing in. Only 3 points seperated Mike and Paul, 2 points between Chris and Bill, and only 19 points seperated 1st through 4th places in the Spinnaker class this spring.
Also, your Road Warrior standings have been updated. That series isn't complete yet, but there is some very tight racing going on in that series as well.
